TOPICS ARE:

Any Topic related to the field of Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering can be chosen.

Maximum number of authors per paper is TWO.

Only One Entry is permitted per participant in the event.

The same author should not be part of two different papers. Failing which will lead to disqualification of both the papers.

The abstracts should be attached to the Email either in doc or pdf format.

Body of the Email should contain the following data

Department

Year of study

Contact numbers and Email ids of all the authors

All these details should be clearly mentioned.

Subject of the Email should contain Title of the Paper

The last date for Submission of Abstract is 18th January, 2011. Entries after the mentioned deadline shall not be entertained

All Authors of Selected/Wait-listed Abstracts shall be intimated on: 31th January, 2011. The results of the same will be put on the website.

Authors’ Innovation and Contribution to the paper will play a major role in Abstract Shortlist Procedure. Authors are encouraged to attach Simulation Results (if any) along with the abstract.

VARCAS 2011-PRINCE SHRI VENKATESHWARA PADMAVATHY ENGINEERING COLLEGE-Chennai Date of Function: 4 th Feb ,2011

VARCAS 2011:

The students of Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engineering College proudly present VARCAS 2011 a national level technical fest conducted by the Department of EEE.We host a variety of events that promise to bring out the best of the participants' ability. Apart from being a technical fest the symposium is hosted to initiate the awareness of E-waste management and to promote the idea of going green.

In order to initiate the cause we students have decided to collect the electronic wastes on the day of the symposium ,that is on 4th of February 2011,and recycle them in a way that will suit the environment. We also detail the idea 'Pack the energy back' where we stress the fact that we must find a way to pay back the energy borrowed to the nature. We also hope the Varcas 11 to serve as a coliseum for our technical throng to fight against the common enemy's : E-junk'.

Theme :

Cell phones and other electronic junks contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, flame retardants and arsenic. If they are not properly disposed, they will pollute groundwater, damage the environment, damage our bodies and endanger our communities. In fact, smart phones and cell phones.

* Two members per team.

* Font: Times New Roman

* Font size: Title- 14 pt bold, Authors name, affiliation and e-mail address and for abstract 12pt normal, Name of the author presenting the abstract should be in bold.

* Name as given shall be maintained in all correspondence. The text of the abstract of paper and poster should not exceed 200 words including title; it should contain OBJECTIVES, METHODOLOGY, RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS.

* Abstract should be in MS Office Word.

* Decision of the judges will be the final.

* All the necessary equipments such as laptop with the necessary software and equipments like Extension boxes/battery power supplies required for electronics project should be brought by the contestants.

* Contestants are solely responsible for the equipments they bring.

* Presentation based on theme pertaining to FOOD is preferable.

* Maximum 2 members per team.

* No picture slide show is allowed.

Apex Brain Storm:

* Maximum 3 members per team.

* First round will be a written prelim.

* The top 8 teams from the prelims will make it to the finals.

* Usage of cellphones and cross talks are prohibited.
